Abstract

The design concept is based on one general volume with two elements which are in equilibrium. Both water deposit containers are considered the principal elements that represent the beginning and end of the coffee preparation process.

Functional, ergonomic and aesthetic requirements demanded by the target user were taken into account during the design process. Limitations in terms of production processes were considered to make it feasible to produce in a short term for the mexican industry.

USER RESEARCH
Personas

Personas were created after synthesizing the data collected from interviews with users.

Several decisions about the product were taken based on the user goals, behavior, desires and limitations.

ERGONOMIC FACTORS

According to the type of interaction the user has with the object, ergonomic factors were divided into four stages for further analysis and implementation.

1. APPROACHEMENT STAGE
First sight contact which affects directly buyer's decision.

2. RECOGNITION STAGE
Identification of the components and understanding of the functions.

3. USE STAGE
When the user interacts physically with the product in order to exert the intended function.

For this stage factors such as the design of the handle, supporting areas, anti-slid rubber applications were considered.

4. CLEANING STAGE
The user should understand how the cleaning process must be done just by looking at the physical aesthetics of the product.

FINAL CONCEPT
Keywords

For the development of this concept, and responding to the research stage about the target user; the next keywords were considererd to define the final proposal.

- Equilibrium

- Femenine

- Dynamic and youthful

- Simple and practical

Context

The coffee maker is meant to be used in a residence. The neutral color treatment in the coffeemaker's composition permits the product to be easily adapted to almost any type of decoration and interior design.
