This is a project which explores a new vision of mobile communication where the mobile device is always connected to the cloud.

It addresses the importance of defining the limits of private, shared and public information. The vision is explained through different scenarios that help to visualize the concept in a real context.

Vision of mobile communication

Tomorrow more information will be accessible, by more devices, 24h a day connected through the cloud. The content accesible from the cloud has to be clearly categorized on the device interface.

– Public contents / top layer. Contextual information
such as augmented reality, image recognition, shared
information and navigation.

– Shared contents / middle layer. Linking personal information, contacts etc. to any given context

– Private contents / bottom layer. Personal information such as contacts wallet, medical files and entertainment etc.

User scenario / Health

One of the user scenarios where this concept could be used is on the health aspect of people.

If the doctor has access to people's medical records on his phone, he would be able to prepare in advance for the next patient during some spare time he has.

As a patient you will be able to access your medical history as well over the years, and get the results of your laboratory tests as fast as your doctor.

With the use of augmented reality you can also know if certain food is good for you according to your health condition.


Social aspect

Location-based services have been around for a while but unfortunately theses services are only limited to people who can have/paid for his/her device to be connected to a network.

What if you could have a real time street view of the place you are just about to go. Then you could arrange an appointment in a particular spot in the main square downtown,and know exactly when your friend gets there.

Retail experience

The user can combine private information with contextual in order to help them to make the right choices when buying something.

You can visualize how your daughter will look in that dress you are just about to buy. Don't worry about choosing the wrong size you would be able to match the information in the context with the private information that can be accessed only by you.

You can also pay with your digital wallet that contains all the information about your bank accounts and check what is the best option for you to pay with.




Sharing assignments, presentations, research and results could be very useful for both the professor and the students.

Imaging if in a field trip you could have the tools to help you identify certain species of plants, and at the same time get more information from the cloud.

At the end of the day, you can compare or create larger collections of findings with your classmates. This will allow you to learn more form the others and enrich your personal assignment.


Hardware-software integration

Since the most important part of this concept is how the user manage the information in different levels of privacy.

The physical object that acts as an interface between the user and the cloud could be a bit more flexible an easily customizable by the user.

The product proposed is a basic platform where the user can plug and play different hardware modules.

Depending on the capabilities he/she needs in a particular situation, the user will choose between these modules and configure the hardware he/she needs depending on the cloud services the user wants to use.
